Learning at Aoba

Aoba is one of the few full IB World Schools in the Tokyo area, embodying the typical characteristics expected of an IB institution. In recognition of Aoba's expertise in IB curriculum and pedagogy, the school has been commissioned by MEXT to lead the IB Consortium in Japan. Additionally, Aoba has been selected by the IBO to pilot the Online IBDP, leveraging innovative teaching methodologies and cutting-edge technologies.

What sets Aoba apart from other schools is our innovative and progressive approach to learning, which spans from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Aoba consistently features authentic team-based inquiry across all three IB programmes: PYP, MYP, and DP. We employ a multi-age, transdisciplinary approach that truly brings the programmes to life for our students.

At Aoba, students co-plan their learning with their teachers, empowering them to take ownership of their education while developing essential marketplace skills and dispositions as outlined in our Core Values. Our goal is to cultivate students who not only solve problems for themselves or others but also create conditions that empower others to solve problems independently. This approach fosters a more sophisticated and impactful mode of leading positive change in the world.
