BIBA Philosophy

Beijing International Bilingual Academy (BIBA) was founded in 2006 by a group of passionate educators with an aspiration for developing students into progressive bilingual role models in a dynamic global community.

The schools' mission is to inspire students to be rigorous, balanced and independent life-long learners; to develop compassionate and positive relationships; to respect and appreciate the world in which they live; and to understand their role and responsibility in a global community through a blending of Eastern and Western philosophies.

BIBA places Respect, Rigor, Relationships and Responsibility at the heart of all we do. Each of our academic programmes encourages students to understand and appreciate these values whilst learning to embody the IB learner profile as balanced, reflective inquirers.

Academic Programmes

Students start the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Grade 6, developing their conceptual understanding and growing their international mindedness, before completing a rigorous two-year IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) course in a range of subjects from Grade 9. The balanced approach of MYP and IGCSE courses prepares students well for the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) from Grade 11.

Academic achievement is only part of what we strive for. Our teaching staff is committed to supporting students in navigating the challenges of academia whilst fostering their emotional and personal wellbeing and encouraging them to grow as individuals.

Extra-Curricular and Co-Curricular Activities

At BIBA, we encourage students to explore extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to develop their passions in a safe and inclusive environment through access to more than 150 different activities. The Special Talents Pathway (STP) and BIBA+ stream also offer students access to additional support and mentors in key focus areas like arts, music, and sports. We believe in a well rounded education for all and offer opportunities to engage students in developing their character and culture.

We are proud of the outstanding achievements of our students. Our graduates continue their learning journey at top universities around the world, with students receiving offers to attend universities in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe and beyond. This demonstrates the success of our students as global ambassadors and shows the strong foundations cultivated at BIBA. Our students leave BIBA ready to embrace a lifetime of learning and leadership.
