FLAIR, DISCIPLINE, ACADEMIC RIGOUR

Set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland, Bromsgrove School caters for 1650 pupils with over 400 pupils in the hugely popular sixth form. Bromsgrove takes girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 18 in the hope of nurturing compassionate people who change the world for the better. International Baccalaureate and A level results place Bromsgrove in the first division. These impressive results combined with a massive sporting and extra-curricular programme means that at Bromsgrove breadth and quality are not mutually exclusive.

Bromsgrove results are outstanding: the IB Diploma average score was 38.0 in 2023 with a five year rolling average of 38.2. In order to gain entry to Sixth Form (whether to study IB or A levels), students are expected to gain at least grade 8 at IGCSE/GCSE in a subject (or a related subject) they wish to study at IB Higher Level and a minimum of a 6 point average at IGCSE/GCSE is required overall. Bromsgrove offers a one year Accelerated Learning Programme for pupils aged 15+, and this popular course serves as an alternative study route for entry to the IB Programme. Bromsgrove's Sixth Form is made up of a healthy mix of pupils continuing through the School into the Sixth Form and pupils new to the School. The IB cohort, which averages 50 pupils in each of the two year groups, is made up of International and UK based pupils.

A mix of over 50 different nationalities makes Bromsgrove vibrant. Bromsgrove School has an active International Students Department with full-time teachers who provide pastoral and academic support, specialising in the particular needs of the international pupils in the school. International pupils are prepared for internationally recognised tests of English as an Additional Language.

Life at Bromsgrove is dynamic. All pupils whether boarding or day belong to a House, which serves as their home from home during the day and at night for boarders. All the houses are different, but there are core values and structures shared by all. Boarding Houseparents are resident in the boarding houses with their own families. Each house has a dedicated tutor team, doing day and evening duties on a rota basis. Support, encouragement and trust are the watchwords. Bromsgrove offers a unique weekend programme, covering a huge range of timetabled options from exclusively academic sessions to school trips. All staff work Saturday and the Sunday boarders' programme is extensive.

Admission for the Sixth Form is through predicted GCSE results and where possible interviews during a visit to the school. Prospective students and their families are encouraged to visit. The Assistant Head (i/c Admissions) has an extensive programme of international trips each year and will always try to meet prospective pupils in their own countries when she visits. We always encourage prospective pupils to visit us to see what we offer. Please contact the admissions team for more information.
