At Felix-Klein-Gymnasium, we are committed to shaping the future through education - together, we strive to prepare young adults to be life-long learners in the world of the 21st century.
Founded in 1890, Felix-Klein-Gymnasium has a long history of academic excellence in the areas of experimental sciences and language education. The public, co-educational day school is situated in the beautiful southern city centre of Göttingen, the academic hub of Lower Saxony, surrounded by large prizewinning gardens that invite the school community to unwind.
On its two campuses, FKG offers educational programmes for Years 5-13 in German and English (CLIL), that award graduates the German Abitur. Since 2008, FKG has been accredited as an IB World School, which consolidated the school's excellent reputation as the leading provider of education in Göttingen. FKG is the only public school in Northern Germany to offer the IBDP in English separate from the German Abitur - this allows students to tailor their studies to their individual skills and interests and reflects the international-mindedness of the surroundings. Dedicated parents, international companies and academic institutions are our local partners, whom we value greatly.
The IBDP at FKG follows the recognition conditions by the German Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs - this guarantees access to all universities in Germany. FKG Diploma students consistently achieve results well above the world average and graduates go on to renowned tertiary education institutions in the area or all over the world.
The subject range is growing continuously and we have recently been able to broaden language options. Many graduates obtain a highly respected Bilingual Diploma, which represents their multi-facetted backgrounds and the cultural and linguistic diversity at FKG.
All IB teaching staff are long-term members of the school community. The team is highly committed to fostering our students' talents and help them maximize their potential. To achieve their individual educational objectives, our students are ready to take on responsibility for their own learning process and strive to develop their personalities, becoming considerate and open-minded members of the community. An academic counsellor guides them in this endeavor, and in Year 1, they have an older student companion at their side.
While the school is comparatively large, the classes in the IBDP offer a wonderful learning experience in small groups. Thus, extracurricular activities, joint projects, events and belonging to the big FKG family foster connections and friendships for life.
