Founded in 1862, Haileybury is cited by Best Schools to be one of the UK's top independent boarding and day IB schools based on 2021 results. Pupils' academic ambitions, intellectual curiosity, imaginations and abilities are harnessed to provide a truly all-round education. With strong academic results across the IB, A Levels and GCSEs, the School provides each and every pupil with a secure and caring environment where they can find their passion and shape their future. The School is situated just 20 miles north of London, nestled in over 500 acres of woodland, playing fields and superb facilities.

Academic

A key part of the School's philosophy is about empowering each child to follow their interests and build confidence in their abilities and intuition. Pupils are encouraged to be independent, creative and intellectually ambitious. The School offers a dedicated Lower School for Years 7 and 8, a wide range of GCSE and (i)GCSEs and the choice of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A Level Course in Sixth Form.

Haileybury is the first school in Europe to partner with scientists from Stanford University and the University of Oxford as part of the global Stan-X study. This allows our pupils the opportunity to participate in this pioneering study of genetics, contributing to efforts to find cures for diseases such as pancreatic cancer and diabetes.

Co-curricular

Haileybury offers an enormous range of co-curricular opportunities, including clubs and societies, broad enough to cater for the most eclectic individuals. From trekking in the Himalayas to debating global issues at its Model United Nations programme to exploring the depths of visual storytelling in Filmmaking.

Sport is central to Haileybury life and the School has an outstanding reputation for Sports. The School is listed as one of the top 100 secondary schools in the UK for its cricket provision by The Cricketer's Good School Guide. Haileybury's Sports Complex has a strength and conditioning gym, a 25-metre swimming pool, indoor cricket nets, a golf simulator, a climbing wall, tennis courts, acres of beautifully maintained playing fields and two all-weather hockey pitches. Pupils benefit from professional sports coaching from the likes of former Wales rugby captain, Michael Owen, and ex-England international netballer, Dani McFarlane.

The campus also has a high-tech Music School, a purpose-built theatre and a fully equipped Art School designed to bring the most adventurous of ideas to life. The School takes pride in hosting spectacular Arts productions with multiple showcases per term for pupils to take part in.
