Haileybury is a leading independent co-educational boarding and day school, situated on 500 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, just 20 miles north of London. Haileybury's spectacular grounds are home to outstanding facilities, excellent teaching and superb pastoral care for its community of pupils.

Academic excellence

Haileybury is extremely proud of the excellent examination results achieved by its IBDP, A Level, and (I)GCSE pupils and was named 'best UK fully co-educational IB independent school 2024' by The Times.

The school offers a dedicated Lower School for Years 7 and 8 and a wide choice of GCSEs and IGCSEs. In the Sixth Form, pupils can select to study for A levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. In addition, we offer a Pre-Diploma course for Year 11 pupils wanting to prepare for the IBDP.

Boarding and day

Around two-thirds of pupils are boarders and boarding life is varied and fun. On joining Haileybury, pupils are allocated to one of the Houses and welcomed into their House community.

Exceptional opportunities

A key part of Haileybury's philosophy is empowering each child to follow their passions and build self-confidence. Beyond the academic curriculum, pupils benefit from a wide range of activities, including professional sports coaching for all and visits from speakers from the arts, sporting, and academic worlds.

The co-curricular programme is packed with opportunities, from climbing and scuba diving to filmmaking and Model United Nations - and countless activities in between. Haileybury also encourages pupils to immerse themselves in the Creative Arts. Drama, Music, Dance, and Art are at the heart of school life and the school takes pride in hosting spectacular productions and multiple showcases each term.

Haileybury's ambition is to provide pupils with the best facilities for all aspects of their education. The new SciTech buildings offer the latest technology to further challenge pupils and enhance their skills. They provide the space and opportunity for them to participate in innovative initiatives, such as the Stan-X programme, a pioneering study of genetics. Working from purpose-built labs, Haileybury pupils are contributing to efforts to find cures for diseases such as pancreatic cancer and diabetes.

Supportive environment

At Haileybury, a caring environment is crucial to a pupil's happiness and fulfilment. There is an emphasis on pastoral care with around-the-clock support, as well as an on-site Health and Wellbeing centre providing a circle of care. The school is a home-from-home, with a warm and friendly feel.
