Founded in 1954, The High School Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (known as JDFZ in Chinese Abbreviation) is one of Shanghai's most renowned and competitive public high schools, directly administrated by both Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

In 2011, the school started implementing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) to enrich curriculum development, emphasizing the integration of localized international education. The school now has four campuses: the main campus is in Baoshan District, the two national curriculum sub-campuses are in Minhang and Jiading District, and the IB Curriculum Center utilizes both the independent campus in Yangpu and the main campus in Baoshan.

JDFZ IBDP students are mainly from Shanghai and the neighbouring provinces across China. The vast majority of them are boarders. They undergo a foundation year at Grade 10 with CAIE IGCSE before being promoted into IBDP. JDFZ also has an excellent IBDP final result in its history as an IB World School. Students achieved the final IBDP grades above the world average in nearly every subject offered at JDFZ. Continuous success comes from the hard work of the students and passionate teachers. Staff are dedicated, enthusiastic, and professional, hailing from China and Overseas. JDFZ IB Curriculum Center is an English medium school, and all lessons are taught in English except Group 1 Chinese A and TOK, which are in Chinese and English. One of the core elements of school ethos is the balance between love for one’s mother country and the growth of an international outlook. This thread is woven into all IBDP subjects. The IB Learner Profile is the core of regular discussions, teaching, events, and activities.

Thanks to the excellent students, teaching staff and faculty, the strong support from SJTU, and the advanced education vision, JDFZ has continuously achieved outstanding college matriculation results, achieving a 100% higher education promotion rate. For national curriculum students, 50% of graduates enrol in Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and 90% of graduates in Chinese "Double First-Class" Universities. For IBDP students, over 80% of graduate students enrol in the top 30 universities from mainstream world-round university rankings, including the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Chicago, University of Toronto, University of Hong Kong, etc.
