The International Bilingual School of Provence, an independent coeducational school located near Aix-en- Provence in the south of France, owes its international character to the diversity of its student population. The school, established since 1984, has an annual enrolment of more than 900 students from more than 75 different countries in its day and boarding sections. In addition to the French students who make up 50% of the student population, IBS welcomes pupils from the five continents desiring to pursue their education in English, French or both.

A particularity of the school is that the international section is not dominated by any one nationality and new students are made to feel at home immediately. Committed to French-English bilingualism, the school offers both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the French Baccalaureate. The school also offers seven first languages to ensure that the student maintains his/her own language skills.

Philosophy

Small classrooms, qualified teachers, modern facilities in a tranquil, calm environment help ensure the success of each student. IBS of Provence recently invested in a new 7000m2 state-of-the-art campus which includes a sports complex, four new tennis courts (2 hard surface, 2 synthetic clay), football field, indoor gymnasium, 400+ seat auditorium for theatre performances and international conferences as well as a three-level academic building with fully equipped laboratories, art rooms, library, multi-media room and rooftop terrace.

The school also has a boarding section with 150 students residing in one of the six boarding houses which offer a home-like atmosphere in a beautiful Provencal setting.

Involvement in various extracurricular activities is expected and enhances the development of each individual's character within the spirit of the school. Politeness, respect and consideration for others are important values at IBS.

Students leave IBS, the majority for 1st choice university placements, as caring, responsible young citizens.
