For over 78 years, Markham College has maintained a tradition of constant innovation. With new challenges in teaching and learning methods, Markham has committed to educational leadership in South America by renewing its Primary School: the new campus, located in Monterrico, Santiago de Surco, and inaugurated in March 2024, spans more than 24,000m2, carefully designed to meet the pedagogical needs of the 21st century. With this vision, we foster curiosity and active participation from students in their learning journey, supported by the transition from the traditional four-walled classroom to dynamic and flexible learning environments.
This same educational approach is reflected in our Secondary and IB campus in San Antonio, Miraflores, allowing us to provide top-tier bilingual education to children starting at 3 years of age. Our British heritage and the international nature of our institution are integral to the holistic formation of our students. In doing so, we have adapted the British curriculum to respect our distinct Peruvian context. We are members of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and are in the process of obtaining accreditation.
The bilingual early education program begins at age three, following the PYP approach, and we are in the process of adopting the PYP-IB. Meanwhile, our IB Diploma Programme, with more than 27 subjects, equips students with the tools for success at universities worldwide. We promote diversity and offer students opportunities to explore their interests and passions through over 100 extracurricular activities and sports to choose from.
Our mission is to support children in becoming leaders in their chosen fields and agents of positive change in Peru and beyond. Our curriculum is grounded in the pillars of academic and creative effort, character development, and service learning. In addition, our outdoor education and social service programs distinguish us: educational experiences beyond the classroom, such as trips, exchanges, debates, social responsibility initiatives, and contributions to charitable causes, are integral to the holistic education we provide.
This ensures that students receive a balanced and comprehensive education that encourages them to focus on how they can generate positive impacts. Additionally, our student leadership program ensures that students are at the centre of the decision-making process regarding their own learning experiences.
Our teachers, who also serve as tutors, play an integral role in the pastoral care of students. Supporting the emotional, psychological, physical, and academic development of each student throughout their time at Markham is central to our educational philosophy.
We are committed to shaping global citizens who can adapt to diverse contexts.
