Together with Islands International School and Southern International School.
Northern International School opened its doors in 1997 in a site of 8 hectares in Pilar.
Its founder, Prof. Estela María Irrera de Pallaro, has as an aim to offer a demanding educational quality for families looking for a better lifestyle for their children. With the benefits that contact with nature offers, Northern International School develops all its regular activities in a bright and cheerful environment.
The International Baccalaureate, of which we have been members since 1997, is key in this institution; that is why teachers and heads are trained regularly.
The school has all the facilities needed to comply with this modern and demanding programme: science and IT labs, a library for research, a multi-purpose hall as well as comfortable and bright classrooms.
Our three schools have fully equipped laboratories for the experimental sciences; they are an essential facility for classes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Our laboratory provisions are not only for demonstration classes but also for students to become personally acquainted with different research techniques and apply them in practice in experiments ranging from the simple to the more complex. Our students learn to handle laboratory materials safely and efficiently and make full use of them in different pieces of research.
At primary level, research projects include: photosynthesis, animal nutrition, the ill effects of tobacco, analysis of animal movements, electrical resistance, the structure of materials, magnetism, the human body, heat energy, ecosystems, soil, water, cells, life process in vegetables and diet in humans.
At secondary level, research projects include: coefficients of contact, genetics, physical and chemical properties of hydrocarbons, evolutionary theory, population growth, biodiversity, pollution of the environment, ecosystems, and health and human physiology.
Year after year, our students take part in different events and competitions, among these Physics and Biology Olympiads, science fairs organized by ESSARP (English Speaking Scholastic Association of the River Plate), local representative of the University of Cambridge, and Mathematics Olympiads organized by OMA (Argentine Mathematics Olympiads). In recent years the schools have taken part in the worldwide NASA projects and one of our schools has on three occasions won the regional competition and taken part in the world finals in Houston in the United States.
