Since its foundation in 1901, Ravenswood has embraced a strong tradition of academic excellence with an emphasis on holistic education. As a proudly non-selective school from Prep to Year 12, we are committed to being at the forefront of education and wellbeing for girls, aiming to ignite the potential of every student - inspiring her passion and purpose to lead her most meaningful life.

Ravenswood is a Uniting Church school, governed by a Christian ethos and our guiding principles of Excellence, Respect, Courage, Optimism and Compassion. Our motto is semper ad meliora - Always towards better things.

Ravenswood offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) to students in Years 11 to 12. Ravenswood is also one of few schools in Australia to offer the International Baccalaureate Bilingual Diploma.

Ravenswood's IBDP cohort grows each year and the School's results are always excellent. Our students have achieved perfect scores of 45 for the last six years running. In 2022 alone, four Ravenswood students achieved perfect scores in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. This is the highest number of perfect scores achieved by a Ravenswood cohort since the commencement of the IB Diploma Programme at the school in 2005.

Ravenswood also launched its innovative new pre-kindergarten offering in 2021, featuring a curriculum infused with the School's own award-winning Positive Education and wellbeing approach, combined with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), and the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The result is a Prep learning experience that is student-centred and inquiry-based, encouraging student wonder, empathy, creativity, independence and collaboration.

As one of the first Visible Wellbeing schools in NSW, Ravenswood has embedded evidence-based positive education strategies into the curriculum, recognising that learning and well-being are inextricably linked.

For the last six years, we have been recognised by The Educator as one of Australia's most innovative schools and named 'a school to watch' in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Positive Education.

Ravenswood Principal Mrs Anne Johnstone was also selected in 2022 and in 2023 consecutively for The Educator Hot List due to her positive impact in the education sector over the past 12 months, her demonstration of expertise in linking theory and practice, and for designing and implementing innovations that provide students with high-quality educational experiences.

In 2023, Mrs Anne Johnstone was named as one of Australia's Most Influential Educators by The Educator. Ravenswood also received four Excellence Awards in the 2022 Australian Education Awards for Principal of the Year, Boarding School of the Year, Primary School Teacher of the Year, and, for the second year running, Best Student Wellbeing Program.

The innovative Ravenswood Positive Education and wellbeing approach is multi-layered. This runs from the Principal, who is an internationally recognised leader and sought-after speaker in the area of youth wellbeing, through to class teachers, Mentors, Year Coordinators, the School Chaplain, Psychologists, Health Care unit, the Learning Enrichment team, Head of Positive Education, Head of Senior School, Deputy Principal (Boarding, Wellbeing and Development), and Daisy and Penny, the two therapy dogs - who provide a framework of wellbeing support, guidance and advice for all students. It comprises bespoke curriculum lessons to teach the theory of Positive Education and wellbeing strategies, mentor group sessions, a comprehensive network of student support and wellbeing initiatives, and innovative wellbeing spaces on campus, as well as in the Residential College, Ravenswood's boutique boarding house.

Ravenswood girls have access to more than 100 diverse co-curricular choices designed to extend their development beyond the classroom including gymnastics, snow sports, public speaking and debating, dance and music to name a few. Ravenswood girls also enjoy co-educational opportunities in partnership with our brother school, Knox Grammar School, including army cadets, careers, musical performances and service activities.

Ravenswood girls enjoy the benefits of award-winning world-class facilities including the Mabel Fidler Building, state-of-the-art Learning Resources Centre and Petre Innovation Centre. The Centenary Centre features a performing arts auditorium, music centre, open exhibition space and dance studios. The indoor sports and recreation centre includes a strength and conditioning facility and a 25-metre heated indoor swimming pool and diving apparatus. Ravenswood's beautiful Senior Learning Centre, nominated at the World Architecture Awards for its design and use of colour to create an innovative educational and wellbeing learning space, is a forward-thinking 21st-century learning space designed to provide both flexible academic spaces and relaxation areas for our Years 11-12 students. In 2023, the trailblazing Wellbeing Path, an 800-metre continuous loop within the campus perimeter, was opened. It provides an opportunity for students and staff to enjoy the benefits of exercising in nature which supports physical and mental health.
