SEK International School El Castillo is a privileged place for coexistence and learning in the broadest sense of the word. The High Artistic Performance School (Music and Dance), the Artistic or the Research Baccalaureates, the different sports schools or the enrichment projects in collaboration with Camilo José Cela University, are some examples.
We have been authorised as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for over 40 years. The Middle Years and Diploma programmes are offered either in English or following an English-Spanish bilingual syllabus, with outstanding examination results.
We are also accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in conjunction with IB with a process of quality assurance: the Collaborative Learning protocol with a focus on impactful learning processes and in 2023 has obtained recognition as a UNICEF Reference Center for Children's Rights and Global Citizenship.
We believe that the way we learn has changed forever. As a result, SEK Future Learning Model is presented as a new opportunity to learn from new methodological formats, based on design-thinking tools, the use of new educational technology and the interaction between the different members of the educational community, offering enriched programmes such as the chorus for families, a Book Club, and the International Community, where families actively participate and contribute to the school's vibrant culture.
We boast first-rate sports facilities on campus and offer international boarders a professionally staffed, nurturing and safe environment. We provide linguistic immersion programmes in both English and Spanish.to ensure access to the curriculum for all our students. The school offers the IB continuum for 3-19 year olds: The Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students aged 3 to 12, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 16 and The Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16 to 19. For the Baccalaureate stage, students can take the Diploma Programme or the Spanish Baccalaureate. In addition, as part of our commitment to talent development, we offer a high-performance sports programme: SEK International Sports Academy (we are an important academic partner of important sports clubs). This programme allows athletes to combine their academic studies with their training and competing schedules. We are members of the Boarding School Association, our boarders enjoy a wide range of facilities to enhance their learning. As part of our provision to develop engaged and active young adults, we offer students the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
