St. Francis College is an international school which strives for excellence providing a warm and friendly community committed to the IB Philosophy. We offer a challenging educational programme with rigorous assessment through inquiry-based instruction.

We empower pupils to be passionate lifelong learners, achieve academic and personal excellence and be committed to impact the world positively.

Curriculum

The international curriculum offered is taught in English. The formal curriculum is guided by the Brazilian and British National Curriculum and the IB Programmes. A broad approach of concept-based learning encompasses the humanities, arts, sciences, mathematics, and information technology. An important element in the curriculum are the Portuguese language subjects, which include Brazilian literature, Portuguese language as well as the history and geography of Brazil. The College provides pupils with academic challenge and key life skills in a flexible and transdisciplinary programme. We are a continuum school and offer three of the IB Programmes. Throughout the primary school we offer the IB PYP, in the secondary school we offer the IB MYP and the IB DP in the last two years.

IGCSE exams are taken in the main subjects in MYP 5. Pupils will conclude their secondary education having obtained their Brazilian and IB diploma.

A wide range of physical activities and sports are offered to students as well as outstanding programmes in visual arts, drama and music, from Early Years through Secondary Years. Once our students graduate from St. Francis College they go on to both Brazilian and international universities and continue to excel academically, personally and professionally.
