Preserving values, taking responsibility, shaping the future! Louisenlund, the only IB boarding school in northern Germany, impresses with its beautiful surroundings, and with its thoroughly international character, offering education of the highest quality. Located on the banks of the Schlei, with its own yacht harbour, the school has a long heritage of being committed to progressive learning strategies able to nurture open-minded and responsible citizens.

Since its establishment in 1949, Stiftung Louisenlund has stood for a first-class education with high standards of academic achievement and character development. The school seeks to develop individual personalities and promote talents. Practical, proactive and experiential learning enables students to actively develop knowledge and achieve their respective educational objectives. The traditional classrooms were transformed into a learning community in which students are the principal actors in their learning process and in which learning is personalized with individual programmes and timetables.

Louisenlund is fully authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), the latter of which is the optimal preparatory programme for younger students who wish to pursue the IB Diploma, and who in general wish to develop their English language skills and to expand their horizons.

There are currently over 500 students, including about 50 from other countries, enrolled at the school, which, in addition to the IB programme, also includes a half-day primary school and a grammar school offering the German Abitur.

Almost 320 of these students are residents of our boarding community, which is extremely popular among students for its relaxed, supportive and familial atmosphere. Indeed, a significant feature of the school is the exceptionally good relationship between students and staff, which results from the dynamic faculty comprising many teachers who are proficient in various languages, including English, Spanish and Chinese, and from the small learning groups. It is a context in which individual talents and interests can be fostered and developed. These things, coupled with the school's membership in the esteemed Round Square network, contribute to the excellent reputation that Louisenlund enjoys worldwide.

Given the excellent educational opportunities and the broad range of co-curricular activities, including local and international projects, given the linguistic and cultural diversity on campus, and the lifelong friendships and the exceptional team spirit of our community, life at Louisenlund is a time to cherish and remember.
