The English School of Kyrenia (ESK) is a purpose-built modern IB World School offering exciting opportunities for academic excellence and personal development for boys and girls aged 2 to 18. An enviable and spacious learning environment, the campus is set in the inspiring surroundings of the Kyrenia foothills, overlooking the Mediterranean to the front and the Kyrenia mountains to the rear.
The Little Learners building is a welcoming, calming and nurturing environment for our Pre-Nursery students. Designed with soft, earth inspired tones, students thrive in the fundamental stage of their development along with support from our professional and qualified teachers. Our Nursery - Year 2 students are located in the eco-friendly Early Years building. The unique building aims to generate its own electricity requirements and seeks to provide all ESK students with a living example of green sustainability.
For the current 2020-2021 academic year, ESK has 1200 students drawn from both international and local backgrounds. The sections of the school are Little Learners (Pre-Nursery), Early Years (Nursery - Year2), Primary (Year 1 - Year 6), and Secondary (Year 7 - Year 13). All classes are taught in English, with an addition of Turkish as a second language, and an option of Mandarin, Russian, French, or Spanish. The Early Years follow the UK's EYFS (Updated) curriculum and the Primary School follows the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP).
In the Secondary School the widely respected IGCSE, A-Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme give students the opportunity to develop an international perspective and attend the world's top universities. Over 88% of graduates attend University in the UK, and 10% in the EU or North America. Graduates have attended prestigious universities such as The University of Cambridge, Imperial College, UCL, LSE, University of Edinburgh, Parson’s School of Design and Leiden University, to name a few.
