Chatsworth International School awarded Gold in Best Arts Programme 2021 in Singapore
Posted on 6th Apr 2022 in School News, SingaporeChatsworth International School are delighted to be announced as the Gold winner of Best Art Programmes in Singapore in HoneyKids Education Awards 2021.
Chatsworth’s mission is to inspire, educate and enlighten students and one of the ways in which the school achieves this mission is through a thriving arts programme. The Arts is integral to a holistic IB education.
The Arts programme at Chatsworth International School recognises the importance of the arts in a well-rounded curriculum as it helps students improve visual analysis skills, learn from mistakes, be creative and make better critical judgments. The love that the school has for art forms is well communicated to the students. And it starts from young. Kindergarten learners have the fantastic opportunity to experiment with clay and pottery by modelling clay into adorable figurines and creations at the cosy pottery centre.
Chatsworth also promotes collaborative and interdisciplinary learning through arts across primary and secondary school. Year 1 and 10 students collaborated to create a masterpiece and showcased their artworks at the mini art gallery.
To provide opportunities for students to learn from the best and connect their knowledge to the real world, the school organises workshops and masterclasses helmed by subject matter experts. Chatsworth has invited Ian Murphy, a UK fine artist, to impart his skills and knowledge in drawing and Mr Neil Farrelly, an international producer and actor, to teach the secondary students in theatre skills. The arts teachers encourage students to attend the Singapore Arts Week to broaden their perspectives in the local arts scene.
Since 2013, Chatsworth has been participating in the International Schools Art Exhibition every year. Notwithstanding a smaller student population as compared to other international schools in Singapore, Chatsworth students have never failed to create and produce top quality artworks and art pieces to be successfully selected for the exhibition.
The school is well equipped with the facilities such as art rooms, music rooms, a kiln, acoustically padded music practice rooms, drama room and performance hall to support the students’ artistic pursuits. The school recognises talents in arts through an award presentation at the end of the academic year. Chatsworth students are provided with opportunities to connect to the world by being part of a cohesive and creative arts community.
