Posted on 25th Feb 2020 in International BaccalaureateThe International Baccalaureate (IB), a leader in international education, is set to host its annual European Education Festival in Warsaw, Poland, next month, from 19 to 20 March 2020. Under the theme Leading and Learning in the 21st Century: Inspire, Innovate, Integrate, the event will see a diverse panel of speakers discuss, challenge and pose questions around best practice in education in a rapidly changing world, and the role technology can play in this.
The two-day conference will bring together renowned education experts, including policymakers, principals and heads of schools, and administrators from across Europe and further afield, to be inspired by thought-provoking keynote speeches, explore education trends, and share innovation in educational leadership and learning.
An exciting line-up of speakers
Keynote speeches at the European Education Festival will be led by Professor Pierre Dillenbourg, Cathrine E. Tømte, and Karol Górnowicz, with a broad focus on technology in education.
Professor Pierre Dillenbourg (pictured above), a Professor of the Computer-Human Interaction Lab for Learning & Instruction at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, will explore another reality using technology and focus on learning environments and learning technologies in his session.
Cathrine E. Tømte, an Associate & Research Professor at the University of Agder & NIFU, Norway, will discuss engaging students through active learning and the careful balancing act between digital and analogue teaching practices in her session.
Karol Górnowicz is CEO of Skriware, a company that develops a home and school-suited 3D printing educational ecosystem that focuses on developing STEAM skills through hands-on experiences. Karol’s talk will focus on the global shift in expectations from graduates and the value of a STEAM-ready educational ecosystem.
Space for ideas to grow
Alongside the keynote speeches, delegates will take part in daily interactive breakout sessions, including workshops led by the Central House of Technology, to discuss new ideas and access valuable resources; providing them with a unique opportunity to become part of an impactful learning community and develop their agency to inspire, innovate and integrate.
Nicholas Lyddon, IB Development and Recognition Manager for AEM, said: “The European Education Festival, now in its second year, is the perfect platform for education experts to pose and discuss challenging questions which are being raised around the world. The carefully curated line-up of speakers and session leaders from across Europe will set the stage for meaningful debates around best practice, educational systems and how we can continue to develop students who will be best positioned to succeed in our globalised, integrated and collaborative world.
“Delegates will leave the European Education Festival feeling inspired by stories, motivated by innovative ideas and encouraged by new, integrated approaches to education - we look forward to welcoming everyone to Poland this March.”
