NLCS Jeju: Start here. Go anywhere!
Posted on 31st Jan 2020 in School NewsAs we approach our 10th year since opening our doors in September 2011, North London Collegiate School Jeju is proud to share that 10 students from our class of 2020 have been successful in their applications to Oxford and Cambridge. As well as being a record for NLCS Jeju this is a national record for all South Korean Schools.
NLCS Jeju is the founding school of the Global Edu City on the beautiful island of Jeju, providing opportunities for South Korean and international students to gain places at the world’s elite universities in the UK, US and beyond.
A record number of students were prepared for Oxbridge and interviewed, resulting in 10 being offered places in a breadth of subjects:
- Architecture
- Fine art
- Politics and History
- Engineering (x3)
- Philosophy
- English
- Linguistics
- Mathematics
NLCS Jeju’s success is based on our educational philosophy, centred around academic excellence, supportive pastoral care and a unique co-curricular programme. We celebrate scholarship and individualism to draw out the potential and passions of each child. Our University Guidance Counsellors work with faculty to support and guide our students through the university application process.
Already students who have applied for ‘Early Decision’ in the US have also been very successful with places at Ivy League colleges such as Cornell and UPenn and a number of other top ranking colleges where they have gained scholarships. These include Michigan, NYU, Parsons and the Pratt Institute. We eagerly await the remaining results at Ivy League Colleges at the end of March.
Our UGC team involve parents as well as students throughout all stages in the process to ensure students receive up to date and relevant advice to help them which is bespoke to the individual’s needs. Izabella Sloczynska, Director of University Guidance Counselling explains:
“The students at NLCS Jeju continue to impress everyone they meet. They embrace challenges and support. I am very proud of all of them for chasing their dreams.”
Lynne Oldfield, Principal, NLCS Jeju expresses her pride in the results:
“NLCS Jeju students are sought by the world’s elite universities and are the leaders of the future both nationally and internationally in many walks of life. I am proud of how they lead and involve themselves in the NLCS community and excel at the highest level. They are delightful young people of whom we are immensely proud. We congratulate them all on their latest achievements.”
